Biography

Hello my name is Brandy Gonzalez, a Licensed Professional Counselor (License #94395). I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston–Clear Lake, but my path into this field started long before grad school. I grew up in Fort Hood, Texas, as a military dependent and later served as an enlisted soldier in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. You could say I’ve had a front-row seat to resilience, grit, and the many ways people rebuild themselves. It’s a privilege to now help others do the same.

Before joining Clearhope Counseling and Wellness, I worked in the Crisis Services Department with the Mental Health Authority in Galveston County, supporting individuals experiencing suicidality and intense emotional distress. I’ve worked with clients from age six to eighty-five. I’ve learned that every person, no matter their age, has a story worth hearing and strengths worth uncovering.

As a therapist, I am dedicated to helping people navigate life’s messier chapters with compassion, humor, and a grounded, client-centered approach. My work is rooted in evidence-based practices and guided by a trauma-informed lens. I aim to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and genuinely supported, not judged, rushed, or talked over. I work with youth and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, and major life transitions. I am passionate about helping clients build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with the parts of themselves that feel steady and strong.

I value cultural humility, authenticity, and meeting clients exactly where they are, whether that’s overwhelmed, hopeful, exhausted, curious, or somewhere in between. I believe mental health care should be accessible and stigma-free, especially for underserved and marginalized communities.

When I’m not in the therapy room, you’ll probably find me spending time with my kids, taking my dog to the park, or getting lost in a good book. Those moments keep me grounded, balanced, and ready to show up fully for the people I work with.
