Biography

Hi! My name is Teresa Gatlin and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. My desire is to help my clients find hope and give them a safe space to heal, grow, and thrive.
I have a Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Oklahoma and a Play Therapy Professional Certification. I have a passion for working with young children, adolescents, and teens. For over 15 years I have served this population as a mentor, former teacher, foster, and adoptive mom.
My experience with foster care led me to want to become a counselor. Providing a caring home to children with trauma and personally experiencing the impact of trauma on the family system led me to want to know more about how to help myself and others. I pursued my education in mental health counseling to be better able to advocate for and support children, adults, and families going through difficult times.
I am trained in child-centered play therapy and take a person-centered approach with all my clients. I work with children, teens, and adults. Using a person-centered approach, I meet my clients where they are and go on a journey of healing with them. My goal is to build a trusting relationship with my clients where I can help them understand themselves, equip them to handle life’s struggles, and empower them to achieve positive changes in their lives.
My clients’ courage to face personal challenges and work toward healing is inspiring. I am privileged to build connections, engage in therapeutic play, and hear my client’s stories as I partner with them on their personal journey to wholeness and wellness.

I look forward to going on this journey with you!
