Biography
Hi. My name is Teresa Gatlin, and I am a master-level graduate clinician. I have a Bachelor of Business Administration, a valid Texas Educator Certificate, and I will soon complete a Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Oklahoma. Currently, I am seeing clients under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor here at Clearhope Counseling and Wellness.
I serve as a leader in my church and have over ten years of experience mentoring individually and in small groups. My family is also a state-licensed Treatment Foster Care home where we provide a structured home environment for children with very high needs and complex trauma. To meet standards for Treatment Foster Care, I am trained in Trust-Based Relational Interventions (TBRI), behavior and crisis management, abuse, sexual abuse, cultural competency, psychotropic medications, and trauma-informed care.
My experience with foster care led me to want to become a counselor. Providing care to children with trauma and experiencing the impact on me and the family system led me to want to know more about how to help myself and others. I am finishing grad school and working toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor to better advocate for and support children, adults, and families going through difficult times or in crisis in my community.
My life's work has always included helping others. In marketing/sales, I built relationships with clients to assess and evaluate their needs and provide solutions. As a teacher, I worked with at-risk students teaching employability, social, and leadership skills. While working at the Community Pregnancy Center of Pasadena, I peer-counseled women and families in crisis.
Helping is a constant theme and drive in my life. I want to build trust with my clients, hear your narratives, and partner with you on your journey to healing and wellness.
